Editor’s Letter

Dear Animal Lovers,

This has been an exciting, eventful, and monumental year in the history of Animal Fair magazine!  We celebrated our 5th Anniversary with Gloria Gaynor singing her infamous theme song “I Will Survive” (she’s not the only one) and the cast of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy dancing their dogs down our 5th annual Paws For Style runway, all benefiting the Humane Society of New York. We howled it up with Rich Vos, Cory Kahaney, Patrice Oneal, DC Benny and Bonnie McFarlane from NBC’s Last Comic Standing at our annual Cesar® Canine Comedy event, benefiting the New York City Animal Care and Control.

Lucky, my faithful canine companion, and I had the opportunity to jet all over the U.S. on our whirlwind JEEP® Yappy Hour tour, proving that there are festive animal lovers from coast to coast on our sold out tour.  We partnered with many local animal organizations across the country and rescued dogs and raised money at each and every city event!  What better way to mark our 5th Anniversary than having the beautiful Beyoncé and her new puppy, Munchie, gracing the cover of this issue and introducing our exclusive special feature: The Ten Most Eligible Pets. This exceptional young woman has dogs (and humans) wagging their tails to her music!

The years have passed by so quickly since our debut issue in 1999, and we continue to be the first and only lifestyle magazine for animal lovers and pet owners, pioneering awareness and fairness to animals.  We have been proud to bring you cover and feature stories chronicling the feline and canine loves of the most memorable actors and personalities of our time, such as our premiere issue covergirl Renée Zellweger, Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Charlize Theron, Sarah Michelle Geller, Sex and the City stars Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis, Regis Philbin, Jessica Alba, Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton and the list goes on and on.  We’ve also spotlighted the most lovable and celebrated animal stars including Garfield, Benji, Mr. Ed, Legally Blonde’s Bruiser and let’s not leave out my own feisty starlit, Lucky (she just can’t say ‘No’ to a photo op).  Renowned photographers such as Bruce Weber, John Lund, William Wegman, Patrick Demarchelier and Elliott Erwitt have bestowed us with timeless, artful and sometimes humorous animal portraits and photography throughout our pages.

Animal Fair magazine has an ongoing supportive vision.  Our mission is to continue to help and give a bark out to animal organizations and individuals whose efforts increase the well-being of our furry, feathered and four-legged friends.  Each of our issues highlights several non-profit organizations that are given an opportunity to tell their inspirational “tails” of service.  We have a hotline to the animal kingdom and want to express their unspoken gratitude for saving so many of them by providing loving homes!

Thank you everyone for all your compassion, generosity and caring over the years! We have loved every single memorable minute here at Animal Fair and we eagerly look forward to bringing you the dog-gone best the animal world has to offer in the future!
