Crystal Hunt began appearing on the popular CBS soap opera Guiding Light, in February 2003. Her portrayal of evil teen Lizzie Spaulding has delighted fans and earned her a Daytime Emmy Nomination, in the Outstanding Younger Actress category. She also received a nomination for Soap Opera Digest’s “Best Villainess” award and was named one of the magazine’s “Hottest Newcomers”.
This Clearwater, Florida native is bringing her talent to the big screen in the upcoming feature The Derby Stallion. Hunt plays a tomboy interested in romance, in this heart-warming family drama about a teenage boy who overcomes the odds to become a winning jockey at a prestigious steeplechase race. Other film roles include: From Earth to the Moon directed by Tom Hanks, Problem Child II and Homeless Children. Hunt has also appeared in many commercials, most notably a spot for Disney’s 25th anniversary and an anti-drug spot with N’Sync.
Hunt found her adorable Teacup Maltese, Roxy, in the classified ads and admits “I half-way convinced my parents to get a second dog for Christmas.” But when she “showed up with this eleven ounce bundle of joy –they couldn’t say no!” Roxy is three-years-old now. As fate would have it, Guiding Light was looking for a tiny, prissy, beautiful dog to be “Lizzie’s” pet. Our producer, Alex Johnson, told the writer and executive producer that I had a dog that would be perfect for the part.” One thing led to another and Roxy ended up joining the cast!
“When Roxy isn’t in any scenes, one of our camera operators puts her on the base of the camera and she rides around on it while we are shooting other scenes. She likes to learn new tricks from watching the other actors, so she can further her career,” Hunt jokes. As for Roxy’s acting career in the future, “I’ve taught her well. I see her going wherever her heart leads her.” Hunt affectionately refers to Roxy as “my precious little baby girl” and even shares a 2005 calendar with her furry little friend. Fans of the blue-eyed beauty can check it out at www.crystalhunt.net. Profits from the calendar will benefit Child Help USA – dedicated to the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect. A firm believer in giving back to the community, Hunt is also involved with the Footprints Ministry, a charity that collects shoes for homeless and foster children.
