Desmond Tutu, Hilary Clinton, Alec Baldwin Come To Obama's Rescue

Obama To The Rescue!

Who would have thought a girl from Chagrin Falls, Ohio who lived on Applebrook Drive with her scroungy, funny German Shepherd named Pepper, would one day grow up to talk to the leaders of the world about one of her favorite subjects! At the celebration of the Life and Legacy of Robert F. Kennedy and the dedication of the RFK Bridge and the 40th Anniversary of the RFK Center, some of the country’s foremost politicians and celebrities got in on the conversation, why should president-elect Obama adopt from a shelter and what should he name the next “first dog”.

Okay, so president-elect Obama, if you ever read this I would like to give you my advice.  Please adopt from a city shelter! For two main reasons, you’ll be providing a dog with a loving home (a very nice home) and your actions will help promote the message of rescue and adoption. These shelters are stuck with every single dog that is discriminated against, for whatever reason. One such organization is the Center for Animal Care and Control, who never refuses a dog no matter the condition, whether it is one-eyed, brown, yellow or three-legged! It is the only animal rescue organization in many U.S cities that is required, by law, to take in all homeless pets. In the NYC shelter their doors are open to over 120 animals each day that have no where else to turn. They can’t find homes for all of them and sadly over forty percent (40%) have to be euthanized due to lack of resources and space.  Now Obama, city shelters exist in every city from Chicago to Washington DC even Anchorage Alaska! I bet Governor Palin would even help you pick one out! You can find any breed whether you want a hypoallergenic, purebred dog, or a mutt. For instance, Lucky, my rescued Maltese, is a hypoallergenic breed that led me to launch my media company Animal Fair, based on fairness to animals. Obama, at the Life and Legacy of Robert F. Kennedy celebration, some of your biggest fans confided in me their suggestions on names for your future presidential pooch:

I’ll start with myself, I’m partial to the name Lucky (name of my rescued Maltese) but also because Obama’s dog will be luckier then all of the rest!

30 Rock star Alec Baldwin must have had the recent economic climate on his mind, he suggested you name your dog: “Surplus – here Surplus – come here Surplus!”

South African cleric and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Desmond Tutu thought the name “Freedom” was a liberating choice.

New York Governor Patterson offered the name Amistad”, which means friendship in Spanish, always good to have a friend in the White House!

Sopranos’ Lorraine Bracco must have been utterly inspired by the presence of Desmond Tutu, at the event, she suggested the Obama’s name their pooch, “Tutu”.

Madame Speaker Pelosi, when growing up named her two dogs Bambi and Snowball, thinks the Obama daughters’ should name their new puppy anything they want!

New York Senator Hilary Clinton kept with the Obama political platform and Democratic party battle cry of “Change”.

Damages actor Glenn Close must be wishing for global peace and less worldly damages – and gave the name “PAX” (peace in Latin) as her pooch pick.

Watergate break-in and political journalist Carl Bernstein got territorial and reported that the name “DEECEE” would leave its mark at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue!

As you see with the above names Obama we all know you represent peace, a new movement in “DeeCee”, “Change”, “Freedom” and for more (much more) “Surplus” to come. Whether this article is read by just one or a million people, my goal has been accomplished. The message here spotlights my heartfelt work and mission of the past decade, where I’ve only helped the underdog, whether it’s homeless children, people or pets. Especially animals that are in need, who can’t help me in any way, but who are in dire need of assistance and aid. Those who a decade ago were 12 million euthanized, now that n umber is down to 5 million, Obama let’s make that 4,999,999!
