While most of us would agree that cats love to look down on us, Bob Walker has taken this speculation to new heights – literally. By constructing elevated ramps, seven-foot-high walkways, and floor-to-ceiling climbing posts inside the boldly colored of their home, Walker and his wife, Frances Mooney have created a festive feline funhouse for nine very lucky cats. Walker’s kittycam captures the inevitable frenzy on film as catnip-crazed fur balls hang from beams, unravel yarn balls, or play Ping-Pong in the tub. “Undercat” photos taken through glass from below and above-the-bed snapshots captured throughout the night lend a delightful different, artful perspective to this biography.

Their cats, as the book’s title suggests, are into everything. Whether the human inhabitants are eating, sleeping, shaving, or knitting, the cats are – contrary to their aloof reputation – highly active participants. Colorful montages of mealtime mayhem and naptime tranquility attest to the interwoven lives of man and beast under this cat-loving couple’s roof. It is apparent, indeed, that Walker and Mooney wouldn’t have it any other way.
