Happy, Healthy and Peaceful Rosh Hashanah (Happy New Year) to all our Jewish friends! Apples and Honey are sweet for Dogs!

Rosh Hashanah ( means “head of the year” ) the Jewish holiday is the first two days of the Hebrew month of Tishrei (Seventh month on the Hebrew calendar). Rosh Hashanah, celebrates the new year of people, animals and legal contracts. In the Jewish oral tradition, Rosh Hashanah marks the completion of the creation of the world.

One of the most popular Rosh Hashanah customs involves eating sliced apples dipped in honey. Historically Jews believed apples had healing properties, and the honey signifies the hope that the new year will be sweet.1236546_10153224123195271_1137077131_n

We wanted to be sure that Dogs could celebrate in the New Year Celebration so here’s what you need to know..

Raw honey has many benefits for dogs! Make sure the honey  has not been heated, pasteurized or adulterated with other ingredients.  Historically, people have used honey to treat many ailments and dogs can benefit to! Be sure to limit the amount of honey to the size of your dog as to much sugar is not good for any dog (or person)!

An apple a day will keep the Vet away? Not exactly, Apples are a great treat once in awhile!  Apples  contain lots of acid which will upset their stomach and the seeds are toxic! Best to cut the apple in small pieces to avoid any ruff problems!
