There are TONS of reasons why being a dog person is worlds better than being a people person. If you are a pet parent, you know that all of the reasons below are true about your companionship with your 4-legged best friend. If you aren’t a pet parent, consider this a list of reasons why you should adopt!
Reason #1: Dogs are good for your health.
Unlike many humans, studies show that dogs actually improve your mental health by reducing stress, depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Sound like any humans you know? Probably not! They are a captive yet caring audience: someone to talk to who won’t argue back. Unlike people, your dog will never hurt you and never leave you. Dogs can also improve your physical health by encouraging exercise and helping to lower your blood pressure. They love to cuddle, play, relax, and do just about anything you like to do. Who needs a doctor when you have a dog?
Reason #2: Dogs don’t judge or criticize you.
Dogs are amazing companions because they love you, and they embrace your flaws. They never shame you, tell you that you are wrong, judge you for being different, or question you. They just love you. That’s IT. They want you to be happy, they want to make you happy, and they are often more than willing to share that love for you with someone else.
Reason #3: Dogs can always make you laugh.
Whenever you have a bad day or find yourself feeling blue, just spend some time with your dog. No matter how low you feel, she will turn things around and make everything better, whether she means to or not. She’ll even let you dress her up in silly costumes for a good laugh. Who wouldn’t laugh at a puppy in flippers?
Reason #4: Dogs are loyal.
Everyone who has a dog knows that your dog loves you unconditionally. They never leave your side and go with you anywhere. When you do leave them behind, they are always thrilled when you come home. Most importantly, they are always there for you when you have a bad day, because you are always the best part of theirs.
Reason #5: Puppy love.
Puppy love is the unconditional love that puppies give their pet parents. They are so innocent and do nothing but love you. Puppies’ minds are simple–they forgive and forget easily, unlike so many people. They do not hold grudges; they just keep on loving you.
