August 22nd is National Take Your Cat To The Vet Day! A PURRRfect reminder to make sure that your feline is up to date on all shots and is 100% healthy!
Many cat owners get so caught up in their busy schedule that making a vet appointment can slip their mind. Know that getting a checkup for your cat is just as important as getting a checkup for yourself! Your cat can’t communicate how they feel like humans do so it’s possible for serious problems to develop out of nowhere. Remember healthy cat, healthy home!
So, who made this a national holiday across the nation? Well it was a natural cat litter company called Feline Pine! A survey conducted by Feline Pine found out through a survey that over one-third of owners only took their cat to the vet when it was notably ill and only 17% of home cats are properly vaccinated. Those numbers should be much higher to ensure proper health for cats!
After the study Feline Pine took action. By teaming up with DR. Michele Gaspar, and the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine they created National Take Your Cat To The Vet Day! DR. Michele Gaspar speaks on declaring the holiday “Although your cat may appear perfectly healthy, it’s still very important to bring them to the veterinarian for an annual exam so they stay that way. We want to remind people that a thorough exam is the key to maintaining good health.”
Your feline is not just your pet, but apart of your family! It’s very important to take proper steps to prevent pain and sickness in your cat. If you can’t make it to the vet today use it as a reminder to schedule a visit for your local vet sometime in the near future. One visit to the veterinary office can go a long way!
