Training a dog is probably the most difficult thing to do. In fact some people dread this part. Who wants to yell at or punish their precious puppy because they couldn’t make it to the “bathroom” in time, or for not realizing that your favorite shoes are not chew toys? The truth is that they all make mistakes just like we do and this is why you train them, so that they learn. However some dog breeds are better at learning and easier to train than others. Let’s go over 10 of the toughest dog breeds to train.
This particular dog breed can be very stubborn and therefore very difficult to train. They are not very good at making friends and love for the attention to be on them at all times. So if you don’t have plenty of time and tolerance this breed is not at all for you.
- German Shepherd
These dogs have plenty of energy and love to go around and although they are very intelligent they are not the best when it comes to being trained. It’s not impossible however it may take a lot more time than you have on your hands to actually train them properly. Sorry!!
- Siberian Husky
Siberian Huskies are very intelligent and dedicated animals. They have always been known for pulling sleds in the coldest temperatures in tons of snow which all goes to show that this breed can truly be great! However it just takes a bit of work to get them there. These animals cannot be trained overnight. It takes a bit of dedication on your part but it can be well worth it!
- Chow Chow
Yes these dogs are beautiful but they can’t have it all. They are very difficult to train, jealous, and stubborn. There’s nothing worse than training a stubborn dog. Nonetheless they are still very loving and loyal so don’t count them out just yet.
- Alaskan Malamute
This particular breed is pretty active and pretty savvy when it comes to escaping confinement. Therefore unless you’re an experienced dog owner or experienced in dog training, this dog may not be ideal for you. A bit more experience definitely necessary.
Akitas can be very active and full of energy. But taking them on walks can be very exhausting or end in catastrophe if the right amount of attention is given. This is in addition to them being difficult to train. But who cares when they have a beautiful coat like that, right?
This particular breed has a lot of strength, energy, and overall potential however that can only happen with a certain amount of dedication as a committed owner/trainer. This breed is not born the perfect pet but with your help it can definitely get there in no time!!
- Chinese Shar-pei
This breed can be very stubborn and territorial. That alone can make for a very difficult training session. But like all the others dedication will do the trick… hopefully.
Although they may look mean and difficult Bulldogs are very sweet. In fact the reason they are so difficult to train is because they are sensitive to stress. They’re sweet and soft underneath that wrinkly exterior. These dogs need love, dedication, and patience. You give them that and you could have the most well behaved bulldog in your neighborhood!
So mush energy and such a small attention span. Beagles are just as sweet and loving as the next breed however they are very poor listeners. Just think of them as toddlers and you’re already one step ahead!! Haha!
No matter the difficulty these beautiful breeds bring along they are truly worth the trouble. All they want is your love and patience and in turn they’ll give you their loyalty and unconditional love forever.
