The beauty with all dog breeds, is that they are social creatures! Each breed has their distinct personality, characteristics, and charm, but the one trait they all share is they love to sniff one another, and often! It’s the canine way of eagerly saying – “Hello, I want to get to know you!”
The reserved Chow might be slow to welcome the feisty Boxer’s advances, but it doesn’t take very long before they check each other out with a really good whiff.
Taking your dog for a walk in the neighborhood, on the beach, or city is always an adventure! They can spot another dog a block away. Tails start waging, and the closer they get the tighter you grip the leash, until boom the two dogs meet and the inquisitively open play begins! Maybe, two dogs aren’t the perfect playmates, and jockey for alpha dog positioning, but often they just bark and move on!
The dog run is another confirmation of how dogs greet and accept each other unconditionally. They chase and play, and play and chase, for hours at a time. Have you ever seen a Great Dane run with a Chihuahua? You would think this is an odd canine coupling, but it happens more than you think!
Some “Doggie Day Cares” across the country have daily group nap times, where the newbie puppies sleep right next to the seasoned older dogs. A beautiful sight to see!
When your dog welcomes you home with a sloppy kisses and joyous barks, and keeps you company with emotional support during the COVID-19 pandemic, doesn’t this warm and expand your heart with great love and gratitude?
Dogs love to love! They are simply non-discriminatory, and non-judgmental. They give love freely to other dogs and their pet parents, no matter the breed, race, religion, or background. We all can learn a great deal in society about how to love unconditionally and play nice with each other openly and freely, from our wise four-legged canine teachers. Woof-Woof!
