Puppy Love! Today Show co-host Hoda Ktob is obsessed with her adorable black and white Cockapoo pup! Documenting her search back in March 2013 on the Today Show, Hoda met with a number of animal rescue organizations, including PAWS Chicago, until meeting her pup Blake Charlie.
So how did Blake get his name? The following show Hoda revealed the dog’s name to the audience with the help of her celebrity crush Blake Shelton, an animal lover himself. Shelton than convinced Hoda to name the dog ‘Blake’, which led to its new permanent name, Blake Charlie.
Blake Charlie is now 3 years old and the light of Hoda’s life! She went through a process that so many Americans go through at some point in their lives – trying to pick the perfect pooch to adopt that works with both her lifestyle and personality. Although this was not originally the dog she thought she would be adopting, she said what many do when they meet the right furry companion, “When you know, you know.”
Throughout the process she learned about each rescue organization’s mission. For example, PAWS Chicago’s mission is to ‘Build a No Kill Chicago’, referencing the prolific problem shelters face in the number of animals they take in and facing the question of euthanasia. Hoda spent time with each dog in New York’ Central Park to see how they interacted with her outside of the pound setting, which can often be stressful and anxiety-inducing for the dogs.
It’s great to see celebrities and public figures such as Hoda Kotb sharing their adoption process stories with the world so publicly, as they highlight important steps that all potential pet adopters should keep in mind.
