March 8th is the UN’s International Women’s Day. Women’s Day began in 1909 to bring attention to the mistreatment of garment factory workers and the suffrage movement; however now it means so much more. This year there will be over 1000 events around the world to discuss the modern women’s movement, as well as to honor modern heroines, such as Malala, the girl who was shot by the Taliban for supporting education for girls in Pakistan. But this day is not just for those in the spotlight, rather, as Yoko Ono tweeted, last year, it is “for our sisters all over the world.” It is for every woman.

Animal Fair is proud to be a woman run nonprofit that encourages not just animal welfare but women’s equality. Getting involved with and supporting women run nonprofits and businesses can empower women everywhere and that’s good for everyone!

From running their homes to commanding the board room, women certainly know what it is to work and this day is meant to celebrate all their efforts. Thank a woman who inspired you, today and become a part of the movement with Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) !

Happy International Women’s Day (buy yourself some chocolate, you earned it)!
