He’s currently lighting up our screens as America’s most lethal military sniper ever, but as we’ve explained in the past, off screen Bradley Cooper is more ruthless in his love of dogs; especially his beloved chow retriever mix, Charlotte. The adorable doggie came into Bradley’s life at a Santa Monica adoption drive, and is now a constant at his side. She even travels with him when possible.
It seems that Charlotte also gets on well with the other woman in Bradley’s life, his British model girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse. Suki and Charlotte have often been pictured taking a walk together.
Suki also accompanied Bradley to the premiere of American Sniper, the new movie that Bradley not only starred in but also jointly produced. The critics have raved about the movie. It got a 75% rating from Rotten Tomatoes who commented on the; “…gripping central performance from Bradley Cooper”. The movie, is based on the autobiography of Chris Kyle which bears the same title. It charts the difficulties he encounters balancing his role as a lethal military sniper in Iraq, with his role as a husband and father.
American Sniper received a limited theatrical release on December 25 2014, but it’s really set to power its way onto the movie scene on January 16 2015 with a simultaneous nationwide and IMAX release. Check out the digitally re-mastered IMAX version and you can really immerse yourself in the passion, integrity and realism that Bradley brings to the leading role in this Clint Eastwood directed tribute to a real life marksman. If you can’t wait until then there is a special screening of the movie on January 14 2015 in Dallas, which Bradley and Chris Kyle’s widow Taya will be attending. Special simultaneous screenings are also being held in Chicago, Kansas City, San Diego, Denver, Miami, San Antonio and Virginia Beach. The events are to raise funds for the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation which helps servicemen returning after deployment, and looks to provide a network of support. Tickets can be purchased via this link, http://www.chriskylefrogfoundation.org/american-sniper/
Of course, when he isn’t adopting dogs, and providing them with a loving home, we all know that Bradley can really act. From affable, dazed and confused Phil in the Hangover trilogy to FBI Agent DiMaso in American Hustle, and Pat Solatano, Jr. in Silver Linings Playbook (the latter two of which earned him Academy Award nominations), he never fails to capture the audience and bring them into the movie with him.
Of course those baby blues also hold us captive, but they didn’t lead to his success in the current Broadway production of the Elephant Man. Bradley has received rave reviews for his portrayal of the severely deformed Joseph Merrick, with Variety referring to his performance as the “riveting focus” of the play. When the production ends at the Booth Theatre on February 22 2015 Bradley will be heading to London as the play is set to transfer to an as yet undecided West End theater, with production set to commence in April 2015.
We wonder if Bradley’s beloved mutt Charlotte will make the trip to the UK, or whether there will just be some serious Skyping going on. Whatever happens we’re certain of three things; Bradley Cooper is a great actor, he’s hot and he is an ardent dog lover who we all admire. Of course it shouldn’t be forgotten that movie performances also play an important role in raising awareness of real life issues. By portraying Chris Kyle on screen Bradley helps us to see the issues that those in our military encounter.
Here there is a link between two aspects of Bradley’s life. The US Department of Veterans Affairs noted that although there is insufficient data to conclude that dogs alone impact the effects of PTSD on veterans, interaction with mutts can certainly assist in relieving the symptoms of PTSD, when combined with other measures. Our veterans suffering from PTSD deserve the support of all of us today.
