Ashlan Gorse dishes on celebrity dirt as an E! News correspondent and anchor (she previously hosted E! News Now) every night at 7:00 and 11:30. But at the end of the day, Gorse doesn’t go home to a pile of gossip mags; she spends quality time with her husky Aurora!
Gorse grew up with huskies, all with names symbolic to Alaska. When she decided to get her own dog, she wanted to keep this tradition. She found Aurora, named after the Northern Lights, through Husky Haven of LA. “When I found out that over 40% of animals in shelters were pure breeds, I knew I had to find one who needed a good, loving home,” Gorse said.
Aurora unfortunately doesn’t get to meet the many celebrities Gorse interviews for E!, since the building doesn’t allow dogs. But Gorse managed to outsmart security once before. “I did sneak her into work one day and everyone loved her,” she said. “Though one of my producers thought there was a wolf from True Blood in the office at first.” Aurora and Ryan Seacrest probably got along great; Gorse thinks the host shares the intelligence, boundless energy and “amazingly great blonde hair” of golden retrievers.
This husky still gets to hobnob with the Hollywood elite from time to time. She enjoyed a playdate with Allison Sweeney’s dog Winky during a shoot, and sometimes runs into Robin Antin’s dog Sugar when walking around the neighborhood. Plus, Gorse believes she has a star quality not unlike Cameron Diaz’s. “They are both gorgeous, full of life, and smile a lot,” she said. “You just want to hang out with her.”
Gorse also believes dogs can inspire singles to hang out together. “There is nothing cuter than a guy who loves his dog,” she said. “I used to go to the dog park before I got Aurora just to check out the pups…and their owners.”
