The Northwestern air certainly does the body good! Lucky is feeling like a puppy again after a beautiful walk through the Fort Worden State Park in the artistic refuge of Port Townsend Washington. Built to defend the Puget Sound, while commissioned, these picturesque battlements never fired a single shot. And the peaceful tradition continues as the grounds have been transformed into an idyllic park – perfect for a Monday morning dog walk!
The park has recently decided to admit pets onto its 434-acre grounds, and the canine community could not be more grateful! Lucky romped in the grass and chased her tail while I relaxed and took in the view of the Oscar winning scenery from Officer and the Gentleman starring the one and only Richard Gere. If you or your dog ever find yourselves with an empty day in Washington state, follow in the foot steps of a legend with this star inspired stroll. For the savvy pet parent, Fort Worden is not to be missed!
If you visit Port Townsend and you don’t have a dog! Visit their animal shelter http://www.jeffersoncountyhumanesociety.org/ – it’s so quaint the Deputy Sheriff sometimes will be behind the counter to help you adopt!
