One Person Can Make a Whale of a Difference
With the recent Oscar-winning film The Cove bringing attention to international government mistreatment of sea creatures large and small, Tails for Whales comes at the perfect time and is the perfect co-captain in the ship to save sea animals.
The beauty of Tails for Whales is its simplicity. Simply log onto their website www.ifaw.org/tailsforwhales and upload a photo of yourself doing a “whale tail” pose with your hands. The photos will then be used in television ads, the first of which is running on National Geographic; in print campaigns; to make news stories and blog posts; and to organize a massive Tails for Whales petition book which will be passed out as a visual petition to government officials.
IFAW began in 1969 as a small group of concerned environmentalists attempting to end the hunt for seal pups in Canada. Ten years later they launched their global whale conservation and welfare program. Today, with offices in 16 countries, IFAW is one of the largest environmental agencies in the world.
