Office Aquariums By Design
By Luisa Nunez
Have you ever considered the benefits of having a fish tank? A conversation piece or a colorful addition to your interior design–whether it’s one goldfish or a myriad of tropical creatures swimming about, it’s almost hypnotizing at times watching the beautiful and colorful fish as they make their way ’round the aquarium. Some might say that it’s almost therapeutic in nature.
Michael Bloomberg, CEO and founder of Bloomberg Financial Markets is a fish aficionado, and the assimilation of one or several large aquariums into the office setting has become a trademark of his office buildings. Designed by WPG Design Group, many of the larger facilities display an aquarium on each floor while other smaller ones accommodate their fish in the employee, open-pantry area where they can enjoy a bite to eat and set a hypnotic gaze on colorful, tropical fish at the same time.
A major visual element, these aquariums complement the office setting by being both relaxing for the employee and a pleasant diversion for clients.
A vivid addition to the demanding and hectic office setting, employees can now gather around the fish tank for their mid-afternoon break rather than the water cooler.
