To Walk With Lions is a moving sequel to the 1966 Oscar winner, Born Free, the story of George and Joy Adamson and their lioness, Elsa.
In To Walk With Lions, we glimpse the final years of George Adamson’s (Academy Award nominee, Richard Harris) life at the Kora Reserve in Kenya; a life dedicated to the conservation and rehabilitation of his beloved, rescued lions. With his assistant, Tony Fitzjohn (actor, John Michie), they are able to reintroduce dozens of lion’s back into the Kenyan wilderness.
Adamson – the “Lion Man” of Africa, is a man who has, by some unknown means, developed a remarkable kinship with the king of beasts. We cross the threshold into a world in which there are fiercely dramatic, day-to-day battles with poachers and local herdsmen, customary to an existence dedicated to wilderness preservation in Africa.
As the film progresses, so does the relationship between Adamson and Fitzjohn. Fitzjohn gradually develops the same spiritual connection and fondness for the lions that his mentor possesses.
Following Adamson’s death in 1989, Fitzjohn and his wife continued to promote the importance of conserving our natural wildlife at the Mkomazi reserve in George’s name in Tanzania. Their conservation work still goes on today and is funded by the George Adamson Wildlife Preservation Trust.
In this film, you will be sure to witness some of Africa’s most fascinating wildlife and mesmeric landscape. Be sure to join Starz! Pictures in the premiere of this poignant, fact-based production on September 9th at 8 p.m. ET/PT and experience a “walk on the wild side.”
