Our statement –
Lucky Diamond a rescue dog who was the inspiration behind Paws for Style in 1999 the first ever pet fashion show. PFS was not created to promote pet fashion but to promote animal rescue and welfare issues. She wants to know why Lauren Conrad could not go down the catwalk with Toby the Rescue Dog! Does she have something against catwalks or cats?
Animal Fair magazine’s 9th annual Paws For Style benefit is where the fashion community supports the animal community by strutting the catwalk with dogs in one of a kind designer dog outfits. Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Heatherette, Rebecca Taylor, Hale Bob, Nanette Lepore plus others all designed one of a kind doggie outfits to be auctioned off on Ebay with all proceeds going to the Humane Society. Celebrities who have supported this event since its creation in 1999 (63 in dog years) include Hilary Swank, Hayden Paniettiere, Kathy Griffin, Richard Belzer, Dina and Ali Lohan, and many other celebs.
Lauren Conrad seemed so sweet and actually happy to be at the event, so personally I feel there has been a miscommunication, that’s all. Miscommunication between Lauren and her publicist. Her publicist did not tell her it was a fashion show – the publicist 100% absolutely knew. And honestly, we have to thank her publicist for creating so much controversy as it’s bringing more attention to what our Paws For Style event is about anyway, raising money and awareness for homeless animals. I’m not quite sure why Lauren couldn’t just walk down the catwalk with the adorable Humane Society dog up for adoption, but other celebrities/socialites did grace the catwalk, Richard Belzer, Cornelia Guest, Nikki Blonsky, Alison Becker, which helped to raised money for the Humane Society, and that’s what the whole event is really about! Even after all of this Lauren Conrad’s and her rescue dog’s outfits she was holding and all the rest of the dog outfits are on www.ebay.com and 100 percent of the money will benefit the Humane Society.
Wendy and Lucky Diamond are judges on Greatest American Dog on CBS Thursday nights – our vote goes to eliminate Lauren Conrad from participating in future Paws For Style events (I don’t think that will be a problem)!

LC, how could you???!!!! you should spend a night in the pound for that!!
Morgan
Shame on Lauren Conrad! This is for charity! Congratulations Wendy! It sounds like your event was a success without her!
Cindy
What a Bitch! LC not LD!
Megan
Wendy, you do so much for animals, you did NOT deserve that from Lauren Conrad! She can’t even do a simple walk to help those homeless animals!
Jana
Lauren Conrad is in the dog house in my book!
Kevin
I can’t believe her!! I was at the event and because I wanted to see her and I can’t believe she could dissapooint so many people and dogs!! The runway wa slike two feet long! I just dont understand how selfish someone could be! Even IF she didnt know she had to walk (which comeon she defin) then if she was already there why wouldnt she for the animals? Its just really disgusting that she could be that way! And what she told people that she was the host…Robert Verdi fulfilled his hosting duties what the heck did she do? NOTHING!!
jeina
im a 10 years old and i went there with my camera and everything and i was so dissapointed when she wasn’t on the runway

There are 2 sides to every story and from all the discussion it sounds like there was just a simple miscommunication – maybe LC didn’t know she was supposed to walk and wasn’t “runway ready” or something. Doesn’t matter too much who made the mistake, y’all move on for goodness sakes. Barring LC from future events would be shooting those events in the foot, so just let it go and find something more positive to talk about.

I will agree that all of the brou-ha-ha has garnered ANIMAL FAIR and the Paws for Style event some publicity, as evident of the snippet on PEOPLE.com; Press is press, even if it is bad press.
It could have been a big misunderstanding, but the real problem I have is with Lauren Conrad and all of the people of “the Hills” and these TV shows…she and the rest of them are NOT actors or actresses and why people have garnered them such celebrity-dom is beyond me. She is not even a real designer – she never finished her fashion education and the word from the school she attended, she couldn’t design worth a lick – yet all of these people have been given 15 minutes of fame and more. To constantly include them in such events is ridiculous because they honestly do not carry the caliber of that of real celebrities.
Next time, my suggestion is to work with REAL celebrities because anyone affiliated with these “reality shows” is anything but. The fact that she thought she could just appear and pose for a few pictures shows how much undeserved success has gone to her head – enough. She, and the rest of them are not deserving to even be on the cover of your publication. Just my two-cents.
Lacey
I think that this could be a big misunderstanding. I mean Lauren seems so nice and Wendy is nice too. I was at the event and saw Lauren get a little teary eyed. I think they could resolve it if they take the time to talk it out.
Meg
What a great event and idea, to bad LC didn’t walk. Atleast Alot of money was raised for the pets!
Elle
I 100% agree with comment #9! Instead of spending close to $10,000 on Lauren Conrad’s flight and suite for her and her assistant that money could have been better spent on homeless animals in need of rescue and care. Lauren Conrad is in no way, shape or form a celebrity. People need to stop perpetuating her faux-celebrity as she has no talent.
Ashley
Hey!!!!!!! LC not LD how could LD its LC NOT LD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Diana
OKAY! first of all you people are totally jumping on the bandwagon, just because Lucky Diamond says something like that, you automatically assume, LC is a bad person, SHE IS NOT! LD maybe it’s the FAULT on your end, because of miscommunication. Do not blame others for your mistakes, grow up and accept responsibility, you don’t want to end up like the politicians today.
Aly
It has to be all the publicist! I knew Lauren was too nice to bail like that!
Brett
This is going too far. Let it go.

Celebs are lucky that they can just walk out on events the commit to. If only it were that easy for the rest of us.
Tim
Seriously, the girl got paid for attending a charity event and she still couldn’t spend a few minutes walking down the runway? Somebody needs some common sense smacked into them.
Mark
You really had Richard Belzer walk the catwalk? And that girl from Heroes? Wow, you really do know everyone Wendy!
SR
@#15…I don’t think anything is being perpetuated here, there are just some things that still need to be cleared up and clarified…as it has garnered a lot of negative press for both sides. The best reaction is to just clear up the questions still floating around and then letting it go once everything has been settled.
