Cinco de Lucky, Celebrity pet blog of Wendy and Lucky Diamond It’s Cinco de Mayo, and my perro Lucky and I have continued to keep busy in the “dog eat dog” world, getting ready for summer and maybe even a little vacation time.
This week Lucky and I stopped by the Free Arts NYC benefit auction where Lucky wanted to dip her paws into some paint and make some paw painting masterpieces of her own, but I reminded her we were there to help raise money for an outstanding cause. Free Arts is a program that provides under-served children and families with a combination of educational arts and mentoring programs that help them to garner the self-confidence and resiliency needed to realize their fullest potential. Of course, rescued animals like Lucky have also been used for similar therapeutic purposes… perhaps Lucky can join forces with Free Arts and paw paint after all!
We bumped into NBC Lipstick Jungle ladies Lindsay Price and Kim Raver. Price told us that her Golden Retriever Sully is in LA right now but he’s coming to New York for the second season filming. Sully got his name because Price’s dad is Irish and “to sully” is an Irish expression that means to dirty or to be dirty, like Sully. We also spotted actress Michelle Monaghan and talked to CW Gossip Girl star Ed Westwick who was very unlike his onscreen character, rich and heartless Chuck Bass, and opened up about his recently passed dog Toby.
Later on Lucky and I checked out the Harold premiere where we ran into the West Coast’s favorite MTV Hill’s young Republican couple, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag. The blonde duo told me about their Yorkie named KiKi who was a Parisian rescue. The pair say that although the dog came from Paris, KiKi is adjusting to American life well and already picking up the English language. They also have a Golden named Chance and two cats, Rocky and Gizmo. Sounds like a full house with that pair! Lucky wondered if Montag’s KiKi has beef with Lauren Conrad’s pup Chloe and if it will play out on MTV’s The Hills like Heidi and Lauren’s drama has. We saw Saturday Night Live’s funny lady Rachel Dratch who is in the film but has no dog – she told us she’s dying to get one however.
Hairspray newcomer Nikki Blonsky was gushing about her Pug Rocky while we spotted Colin Quinn and Steve Guttenberg.
Over the weekend we stopped by a Gotham Magazine party to celebrate darling animal lover Christina Ricci on the cover. Ricci’s Speed Racer costar and cutie Emile Hirsch was also there to support. Lucky was wondering where Ricci’s dogs Ramon and Sheriff were and why they weren’t on the cover of Gotham with her.
We also spotted Good Morning America anchor Chris Cuomo who knew all about the latest pet headlines.
One last reminder this week: help donate to the Humane Society of New Orleans. As a chairperson for the Katrina Pet Memorial Fund I truly hope they can receive enough donations so New Orleans can have a shelter this time next year – in dog years that’s long enough! Check out HumaneLA.org.

The Free Arts NYC benefit sounds like a great cause!! I think people forget how many charities celebrities work with…it’s nice that you draw attention to THAT side of people and their pets 🙂
