Lucinda Verdi is one very lucky lady. She only eats from the finest crystal dinnerware; has a closet boasting designer garb from Pucci, Hermès, and Chanel; attends the most fabulous events (she co-hosted Paws for Style 2008!) – and she’s not even human. Six-month-old Havanese pup Lucinda is style maven Robert Verdi’s other half, and certainly reaps the benefits of having a stylist for a father.
Verdi, who runs a creative services company and styles today’s hottest celeb’s wardrobes and homes (funny gal Kathy Griffin and actress Eva Longoria, for starters) says his pooch Lucinda has added that little bit of “oomph” that was missing from his already exciting life.
“She brings a lot of joy and love into my life,” Verdi smiles. “No matter what’s going on she’s always happy to see me – and that’s something that no matter how hard people try, they can’t accomplish. People are just not capable of that. There’s something really beautiful about that.”
To keep his home and workplace free of puppy clutter, Verdi keeps his aesthetic in tact by keeping one central destination for all Lucinda’s toys and accessories – a large, high-quality basket. “It’s accessible enough for her, and easy enough for me to just collect them and throw then in there.” Verdi also keeps a basket of toys for Lucinda at his office where she joins him daily, along with a doghouse and two big, plush pillows.
Verdi is a huge proponent for “less is more” in the world of style, and thinks puppy fashion should be reserved for special occasions only. “I think that a great leash can make a dog look fabulous, a leash from Mulberry or Hermès, or Coach … I would say basics are great, but break away from basics, especially in things you’re going to use everyday.”
And though this star isn’t exactly known for simplicity, Verdi would compare Lucinda to singer Fergie, also of the Black Eyed Peas. “I think Fergie is cool and sexy, and one of the girls who works for me calls Lucinda ‘Sexy Girl.’ I think Fergie’s stylish and fabulous, and I think my dog is, too. She’s Fergalicious.” Verdi laughs, “She could probably do a back-flip if I focused more on training her!” Keep your eyes peeled for the second season of his 35+ modeling competition series She’s Got The Look on TV Land, as well as a highly anticipated new QVC line of jewelry, available in March, 2009 – we can’t wait to get our paws on it!
