AF: What makes Holly’s Place the “Best Kept Secret in Tahoe?”
HB: We are extremely secluded, yet we’re only one mile from Heavenly Ski Resort and the Casinos, and two blocks from Lake Tahoe. We welcome animals here with open arms. Our cabins are clean, cozy and comfortable for doggies and their people. I have been an animal lover all of my life. Pets make me smile and leave my heart with a warm feeling.
AF: Tell us about your dog… he’s huge!
HB: I have a 220 lb, 10 year old English Mastiff, Typhoon. I rescued him from a family who could no longer keep him. Instead of the family putting him down, and because of his large size, I felt my property could give him the place that he needed to run free and be loved by all.
AF: Any funny stories you’d like to share?
HB: Typhoon is just so large that I don’t think he realizes he’s a dog. He has a gas problem, too! During a visit by a few of our guests, Typhoon let himself go with a loud rip-roar and frightened our guests away!
AF: Does Typhoon have a favorite dog-friendly hangout he’d like to recommend?
HB: Typhoon loves Kiva Beach—the dog beach on South Shore or Fallen Leaf Lake Campground Beach. Both places offer many walking trails and places to swim for people and their dogs. There are also many hiking areas including Desolation Wilderness, where dogs can hike and backpack with their parents. Tahoe is a pet friendly town, as it’s a mountain town, where dogs are welcome in most all places. Stop by and visit us anytime.
