His strokes of genius and her ability to freeze life with photography have engulfed Todd DiCiurcio and wife Megan Erb DiCiurcio in the world of art.
Both Pennsylvanian’s who grew up together, Todd and Megan began looking at life through their own distinctive views, which today inspire their work. “Music, an insect, humanity, a found object, plight, surfing, simple pleasures, relationships, everyday observations of the roller coaster,” said Todd. “But Rhythms is part of that inspiration.” Rhythm, the couples’ cat is an artistic influence as well as a comfort for the artists. “He’s my little haven,” said Megan. “He jumps into my arms, nuzzles my chin and just seems to absorb any of the bad energies from the day.”
Todd, whose artistry is anything but commercial, has begun to incorporate his love for his feline friend and his second love- surfing by creating a JS surfboard with Rhythms as its center. “Todd and I have been surfing since we were young…we spend all our summers there,” said Megan. “The art on Todd’s boards has always reflected what happening in his world so Rhythms on his latest JS is not surprising, Rhythms loves the beach! He’s even been in the ocean,” she said.
Todd, who has painted life in its many vivid forms, from abstracts to rock bands like The Killers, has captured Rhythms and will continue to do so with upcoming projects. “I draw mostly from life,” he said. “So people are easy because they stay relatively put. But our animals have a hidden agenda, being a bit more fussy and teaching us patience; Rhythms will surely appear in more future work, he has quite a presence.”
