It’s not hard to see why Bianca Ostrosky is one of the most eligible pets in New York City! You will fall head over heels in love with this blond beauty the second she waddles into your life. Bianca clearly gets her sun-kissed looks from her mother, Beth Ostrosky (a model, actress and relationship expert for FHM magazine). This Pennsylvania native has quite a male following and fans enjoy her swimsuit calendars, magazine covers and appearances in films like Flirting with Disaster, Whipped, The End of the Bar and Another Night. The two major loves in her life … radio personality and boyfriend, Howard Stern, and her deliciously adorable bulldog, Bianca. Check out what Beth had to say about our favorite bulldog!
AF: How did you and Howard find Bianca and have her become a part of your family?
BO: Howard and I heard about this amazing breeder, Shelly Earl. That’s how we found Bianca. She has a wiggle and when she runs, her legs go out to the side. It’s so cute! She was almost a year old when we adopted her. She’s like our child.
AF: Bianca is an interesting name, how did you come up with it?
BO: English bulldogs are big, fat sloppy messes. We wanted to name her a feminine name. We loved the name Bianca, so her full name is Bianca Romaijn Stamos. (Soon to be O’Connell!) It’s on her birth certificate!
AF: Does Bianca have a favorite doggie dish?
BO: For snacks, I’ll cut up a banana and freeze the pieces. Howard will open the bag and eat the banana bites. He’ll take one for himself and give one to Bianca. She loves it – totally drools for bananas. She was up nudging him when he was eating them, so now it’s their thing that they do together.
AF: Does she have any quirky personality traits?
BO: She farts all the time! Sometimes she blasts them loud, sometimes they are silent stinkers. And she loves her fat free American cheese slices. I promised she’s going to get a couple pieces when we get home. Look, her tongue just fell out! She loves it. Bianca also snores horribly. We have to put her on the other side of the apartment and if she sleeps with us – we have to put ten sounds machines on. It’s like an old man snoring, so loud. It can keep you up all night. Howard doesn’t usually snore, but he did last night. I thought it was the dog. So, I took Bianca to the other side of the apartment, put her in her bed and shut the door. I came back and realized it was Howard snoring. I couldn’t lift him to take him across the apartment!
AF: Are you actively involved with any animal friendly organizations?
BO: I am very involved in the Bulldog Rescue Association out of Long Island. I see all the stories and become personally involved with all of them. I love cats too. I’ve always had cats growing up, so cats are just as important to me as dogs. I also just shot an ad campaign for Northshore Animal League America and work closely with them. I write a monthly column for their website!
AF: Do you think there’s such thing as true puppy love? Can you have unconditional loyalty, love and a bond with someone for the rest of your life – like you have with Bianca?
BO: Yes! I didn’t think that five years ago – but these past five years have been amazing. My relationship with Howard just works. My advice to single people – don’t worry about your age or timing or being in a rush to meet someone. Don’t settle. You just have to be patient and it will come to you.
AF: When did you know Howard was “the one?”
BO: I was actually set up on a blind date with another person who was at the dinner party. I got up from the table after we finished eating and noticed this woman hitting on Howard. I thought it was intriguing. I overheard her tell him he had beautiful eyes. I thought it was such a pickup line! I went right up to him after the woman left and as a joke, told him he had beautiful eyes as well. Apparently, he didn’t hear the other woman tell him that. He thought it was my line and he loved it! That second, I DID look into his eyes. They were exquisite. Darker blue, piercing. We started talking and we realized that we only lived a half a block away from each other. The next morning at 8am, my phone rang. It was Howard and he asked if I wanted to come over to watch a movie. We haven’t been apart since. We just had our five-year anniversary.
AF: What makes Bianca such a great pet and soul mate?
BO: Bianca is quiet – she never barks. She’s tolerant, patient, kind. She just hangs out and is the most joyous piece of love to fill the room. I think Howard is beautiful, funny, smart, charming, loving, sincere, honest and perfect. How is that for a soul mate? And I can say all of those qualities for Bianca. So I have true puppy love with my man and my puppy!
