World Cancer Day – Cancer Survivor Paige Jansen creates Vintage Jewelry You Will Puppy Love!
After overcoming her battle with cancer in 2007, Paige Jansen wanted to do something to help those still suffering. She turned to an unlikely inspiration: fashion. Today, her custom jewelry venture Saint Vintage sells beautiful bracelets and necklaces, with a cut of the proceeds going to Stand Up to Cancer. Jansen’s massively successful new business has made her life a whole lot more hectic, but luckily this cancer survivor has her three dogs – Biscuit, Kadie and Hondo – to help her manage the stresses of running a celebrity-favorite company.
Jansen was certainly grateful for her dogs’ support when she was going through her cancer treatments. “My dogs were the beacon of strength on days when I was going through chemotherapy and was alone,” Jansen said. “They knew I was sick and it was amazing to see how each one cuddled up to me gently as I fought my battle. They were my comfort blanket.”
While Kadie was merely a sweet name Jansen liked for her baby bichon, Biscuit and Hondo’s quirkier names reflect Jansen’s love of pop culture. Biscuit is named after Peter MacNicol’s comical Ally McBeal character, John “The Biscuit” Cage, while Hondo’s namesake is the John Wayne cowboy Hondo. But Jansen’s love of Hollywood is far from one-sided. Her jewelry has been worn by Emma Roberts, Christina Ricci, Cheryl Hines, Maria Menounos, Lea Michele, and even Wendy Diamond! Still, there’s one famous holdout Jansen is dying to claim. “I would love to have First Lady Michelle Obama wearing Saint Vintage,” Jansen said. “Her style and grace mirrors a modern-day Jackie O. Plus, she would be a huge supporter behind the Saint Vintage cause.”
Even if Michelle Obama is never spotted with a Saint Vintage original, Jansen can at least rely on her three biggest fans. Kadie, for one, is known to sport a Saint Vintage Love Wrap collar on occasion. But Jansen sees a passion for fashion in all her dogs; she can rattle off her pups’ fashion designer counterparts without hesitation. “Kadie would definitely be Rachel Zoe,” she said. “Biscuit is more like Ralph Lauren and Hondo is John Paul Gaultier all the way!”
To join Jansen, Kadie, Biscuit and Hondo in the fight against cancer, you can check out Saint Vintage’s charity, Stand Up to Cancer, or purchase one of Jansen’s original designs at Saint Vintage. Cancer is always a scary road, and this dog lover wants to make sure it becomes one less traveled.
