Jared Leto is a Academy Award-winning actor, an accomplished musician, and a director. What you didn’t know is that Jared also had his hand in the philanthropy pot! In addition to having a freshly cut mane of hair, Mr. Leto was also just recently named the newest Global Ambassador for the World Wildlife Fund. His mission is to raise awareness of the current poaching situation facing rhinos and other endangered species in Asia and Africa. He also is trying to reduce growing demand for rhino horn and recover species populations across Africa and Asia. Is he not the most eligible bachelor?! Whether he is 100% single or not is another story, but he does have some words concerning his recent trip to South Africa.
“My latest adventure in South Africa was as mind-blowing as always. Being that close to majestic creatures like rhinos and elephants reminds me of the deep connection and important responsibility we have to protect and shepherd these fragile species and their habitats. I’m committed and passionate about doing all I can to help ensure that these endangered animals survive, and will continue to encourage others to get into action as well,” said Leto.
Jared is a known vegan, animal lover, and activist so he is an appropriate figure to fill this role. PETA crowned him the Sexiest Vegetarian of 2014 (no arguing with that!). “We must double our efforts to restore their populations across Africa and Asia. It can and – with a focused global effort – will be done. I’m honored to join with WWF and the global conservation community and do my part,” reveals Leto.
We’re happy to hear how passionate Jared is about this cause and we congratulate you! We wonder how he will be celebrating World Wildlife Day.
